*** There is an important statewide change beginning in 2026. South Dakota 4-H has implemented a No Exceptions Late Policy for several state deadlines. Families are encouraged to review these deadlines carefully, as missing them may affect participation in events.

REMINDER: 4-H insurance payments are due April 15 . 

All 4-H members are required to have insurance. If you are paying by check, please make it payable to Prairie Winds 4-H.

Here are a few upcoming opportunities to keep on your radar:

4-H Rodeo Reminder:

The entry deadline is April 1 , with a late entry deadline of  May 1. No entries will be accepted after May 1.

4-H Scholarship Opportunities:

The  State 4-H Scholarship application is due April 7 , and Prairie Winds seniors may apply for the  Prairie Winds Scholarship by May 12  if they meet the eligibility requirements.

4-H Shooting Sports:

The State Shoot Contestant Packet is now available; click on the link above!

Youth Livestock Literacy & Youth Horse Literacy Clinic:
May 20th at the Schomer Barn in Fort Pierre. Registration begins at 5:30 pm, and the program starts at 6:00 pm. 

This clinic includes hands-on learning and will count toward literacy certification. Pizza and water will be provided.

Possible Return of the 4-H Dog Project:
The county office is exploring interest in restarting a county Dog Project and Dog Show. If your family might be interested, please contact the 4-H office so we can gauge interest.
